About Me

I've loved horses all my life, I was one of those little girls that nagged their parents mercilessly for a horse but never got one.  It wasn't until my mid-thirties that I finally decided that I was going to get riding lessons.  Learning to ride for the first time that late in life is both daunting and exhilarating.  At the time there were very few resources for older learners so I started Virtually Horses and wrote about my experiences.  Over the years I've been contacted by many other learners, of almost every age imaginable and from every part of the globe.  It's been a very enriching experience.

During this time I attended numerous clinics, read and researched.  My natural research and diagnostic skills and love of the sciences helped me to compare and contrast different ideas, methods and techniques.  All these skills have been put into practice working both with Natural Horsemanship techniques and positive reinforcement to correct problems or train new behaviours in my own horse and others.

In addition I have learned equine massage from Rachel Phillips and have been barefoot trimming for the last 4 years.   My own experiences as a former body builder taught me from personal experience how to create, shape, feed and rehabilitate muscles and how important regular massage can be to ensuring top athletic performance.

Favourite trainers & Influences include; Alois Podhajsky, Mark Rashid, Anky van Grunsven, Walter Zettl, Ramon Guerrero, Reiner & Ingrid Klimke, Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling, Sylvia Loch
