About Clicker Training

Clicker Training is a form of Operant Conditioning which uses positive reinforcement to teach or modify behaviours.  It has been used successfully with hundreds of species and thousands of individual animals over the last 60 years.

The clicker itself is a simple noisemaker, a signal to precisely mark a behaviour as 'good', so that the horse knows what you want from it.  The clicker works because it is linked to a reward.  That reward can be anything that the horse likes and will work for.  Food is the most desirable and practical to use during training.

Key Benefits of Clicker Training

bullet Your horse will learn how to learn, quickly and be enthusiastic about your training sessions.
bullet You learn how to teach your horse in a much more effective way, how to break down tasks into learnable chunks.
bullet The horse is never wrong, so Clicker Training is particularly effective for previously abused or very sensitive horses.
bullet No force is required, just patience.  Timid or new horse owners can overcome even the most boisterous or bad mannered horse.
