Get Started - The Startup Package
 
Price $95 *
This is a single Clicker! training session with a pack of
goodies to get you started with clicker training. It introduces the
power of positive reinforcement and Clicker concepts.
Get Started sessions can be run on your property or in
Westgate (North West Auckland) where you will have access to experienced clicker
horses to demo concepts and practice your timing on. Bring your own horse
to get him\her started too.
Get Started Pack includes: Get Started
Lesson + 1 classic
clicker, 1 target stick, 1 treat bag and 1 copy of my "Introduction to Clicker
Workbook" (products normally valued at $48.50) to continue your training.
Introduction to Clicker Training
The Foundation Lessons Programme
Price: $330* This course covers all material in the
'Getting Started' Lesson. If you decide to take the course after
having the Startup Package Lesson I will deduct the price of the first
lesson from the price of the course.
This is a set of 6 one-on-one lessons for you and your horse,
held on your premises. This course covers all aspects of clicker training
from the most basic concepts to more advanced performance enhancement
techniques. You are guided through both theory and practical sessions. A
full course workbook is provided.
The course is
designed to be run over 8 weeks depending on your schedule. The
first 4 lessons are run once per week and the final 2, once a fortnight\month as
you choose. During each lesson, time will be spent assessing progress and
discussing problems or questions from set exercises from the previous week.
Time spent with each horse will vary according to the horse's
attention span and learning ability. As the horse progresses you will find
that it's training periods will increase but at the beginning training periods
should remain short, but can be frequent. Each lesson is expected to last
from 45 mins to 1hr. The initial lesson may include a demonstration from a
more advanced clicker trained horse if the premises permit.

Basic Clicker Training
Theory
- What is Operant Conditioning and why does it work.
- How you can use Clicker with other training methods
or on its own.
- What are cues and prompts
- Shaping, moulding, targeting and reinforcement schedules
- How to plan training in order to avoid dangerous or
annoying behaviours.

Practical Skills
- Associate the clicker with the reinforcer
- Learn how to break down behaviours into learnable
chunks
- Teach your horse good food manners
- Good training habits, timing the clicker
- Teach several behaviours using clicker
training*
- How to deal with soliciting and off cue behaviours

Note: Under 14 year olds will not be accepted onto Clicker
Training courses on their own. |

Ideally training will take place on the horse's home
ground. If this is not suitable, rental of training grounds and\or
transport is not included in the price shown. |

Because clicker sessions with the horse can be short, private lessons are
offered in 30 minute slots, however novices may require a full hour.
