General

Most pages in this website have graphical backgrounds.  The graphics change with the sections of the website to help you keep track of roughly where you are.

Note: If you have your monitor set up to very high brightness or contrast you may not see some graphics or text very well.  On this page the background includes some light gray circles at the top of the page - if you cannot see them you should adjust your monitors brightness\contrast until you can, otherwise you will be missing elements on this and many other websites.

How the Pages are laid out

Navigation Bars (Topics) ~> The Horse | The Rider | The Books | The Gear | The Links | The Sports

At the top and bottom of almost every page you will find a quick navigation bar with links to major topics like the one shown below (or at the top of this page).  Every page has an identical topic bar regardless of the topic you are currently in.  This main navigation bar shows the top level topics that all pages flow from.

Topic Headers

At the top left of each page you will usually find a topic graphic (on this page its a picture of me riding) which you can click on to go back to the main topic start page.  If you let your mouse pointer hover over these (or any) graphics a pop up text will tell you where you are about to go.

Navigation Links

In the sidebar (the lefthand margin of each page) you will also find navigation links for the pages which relate to the topic you are currently on.  These links will lead you to the pages in the same topic, and to related pages in other topics.

Special pages
  • The SITE MAP lists all current pages in all websites and is very handy for skipping from one area to another. The site map also provides a search box like the one shown on the left. You can search this site for whatever topics you're interested in.

  • To find out which pages have been added recently, there are What's New pages on each site.

  • VHSearch pages provide some guidance which I hope will be helpful to those new to the internet and the experienced surfer alike.

  • Blog! This is where I post ad hoc information and news.  I may find sites or clinic information which won't appear on the permanent site but may be of interest for a short period of time.

Help for AOL Users Graphics

The default on AOL is for the browser to compress the graphics further than they are already compressed, which can cause loss of quality in web graphics. To change the setting in AOL v.4:

bullet Click MyAOL on the toolbar
bullet Select "preferences"
bullet Click the [WWW] button
bullet Choose Web Graphics
bullet Uncheck the "Use Compressed Graphics" box
bullet Press the [OK] button
