In Chinese Astrology the Horse may take several forms matching the five eastern elements- The Metal Horse, The Wood Horse, The Fire Horse, The Water Horse, The Earth Horse.

Although the year of the horse arrives every 12 years it is only every 60 years that your birth sign will truely be repeated.  This cycle of 60 years is known as the Heavenly Year or Tai Sui.   A person over 60 years old is therefore revered for having lived through the entire cosmic cycle.

In addition to year signs, the Chinese astrological system also includes month, day, hour and minute signs - they all relate back to the same symbols used at the year level.  The month sign of the horse for example roughly equates to Gemini in western astrology.  Therefore it is only those born in the year, month, day, hour and minute of the horse who would truely fit a 'horse' profile while all others would need to incorporate the influences of the other signs into their profile and especially into a 'friends and enemies' chart.

The General Character Traits of the Horse Ma

Adventurous, Brave, Sociable, Intelligent

In China the horse is the symbol of nobility, elegance, speed perserverance, strength and courage.  The natural Horse temperament is optomistic, generous, loyal, honest and sociable.

The Horse also loves to travel, either physically or in the sense of constantly moving on from one project to another.  This restlessness can cause problems, but luckily Horses are also gifted with great practical sense.  They have a talent for making their ideas work before moving on and a charm that makes them welcome wherever they go.

2014 will be the next year of the Horse - the Wood Horse
