Horses:
Maree has a variety
of horses and ponies to suit most shapes, sizes and abilities from
absolute beginners through to advanced dressage and show jumping lessons. All are sensible lesson horses that can provide a quiet
lesson for the most nervous beginner. There are also former top
level eventers and show jumpers that can provide an active ride for the
more advanced. Supervised hacks can be provided for regular customers
who wish to get some experience outside of the arena.
Equipment:
Riding helmets are provided (and must be
worn) as are riding crops or dressage whips. Raincoats are
available if the weather's wet. The horses are always well turned
out and the tack is always clean and well cared for.
Mounting:
There's a good large mounting block for
all sizes, it's graduated to allow all heights to mount safely, and the
staff will always help you on. The horses are all
well trained to stand quietly while being mounted.
Lessons:
There are several instructors working with Maree, most
are NZEF certified, some also provide instruction for Pony Clubs, all
are highly experienced and all can provide instruction for children or
adults on the basics, classical
dressage or jumping. Childrens instruction often includes pony games to
increase confidence and skills. Instruction on
basic horsemanship is also provided for children and beginners.
During school holidays Maree runs 'Own a Pony Weeks'
where children and teenagers may learn to care for an assigned pony,
take riding lessons and participate in competitions. OPW's are
usually run at beginner and advanced levels.
