Welcome |
An Introduction... |
|
|
After having a
love of all things equine all of my life, I started riding lessons as an
adult. My previous experience was limited to occasionally jumping on
other people's horses as a child or teenager, i.e. hanging on while we
tore (or plodded) around a paddock rather than riding with any control.
I started scouring bookstores and the web to see what was being published and where I could get information on riding, horsemanship and horsie type events that I could go to. At the time (1999) I found it really hard to find information on events and there were a lot of sites out there that were not really worth the bother of visiting. I also found some gems and thought that there might be a few people out there who would find a site like this interesting and hopefully helpful. Because I am in New Zealand, lots of the information will be of particular interest to Kiwis or people interested in visiting New Zealand. I've also tried to keep most of the links to other sites relevant for Kiwi consumers. What started as a couple of pages grew considerably to over 100 pages of information across 2 websites, Virtually Horses and Virtually Riding. The two sites are now recombined as one, due to a change in webhost, but continue to grow. In early 2002, I finally purchased my very own horse and have been adding information about buying, owning and training a horse from my own experience (as a newbie horse owner). I now keep a blog for website 'stuff' as well as a riding and training blog so that you can see how I progress through the ups and downs of the riding journey. I hope you enjoy this site and love receiving your feedback. Remember that you are very welcome to send in articles, reviews and perhaps even your own story! |
